A visit to The Natural Fibre Co.

We had an excellent day in August when we stopped off at the Natural Fibre Company, en route to Cornwall. Katie very kindly took time out of her day to show us around. There is a huge variety of yarns being spun as this small woollen mill on the outskirts of Cornwall, much of which are organic wools or from British, small scale and rare breed sheep farms.

The colour range from the creamy naturals, through the taupes to the dark, deep browns of the Jacob’s are a feast for the eyes. The rattle of the machines and the smell of lanolin makes entering the mill an experience for all the senses. With Phoebe’s recent venture as a part time shepherdess, we are excited to explore the potentials of using local, organic wool for everyday goods … watch this space!
