HERGEST LEE

A wood cabin & lean-to nestled between the border of England and Wales.

Designed and built by the owner and architectural designer, Paul Gent, these thoughtfully created spaces are made with sustainably sourced materials, such as local cedar wood, and have been designed to mirror the shapes of the Hinter hills that they face. The structures reflect Paul’s keen design eye and, as he puts it himself, his interest in ‘natural forms that are constructed in a modern way’.

They also have a slight mid century feel to them and every detail has been considered and all decisions made with nature in mind - the cedar wood has been sourced from a local saw mill and the units heated through infrared panels - that are 40% more affective than anything else. These beautiful spaces are a perfect home for our towels and we would highly recommend anyone going to stay in these dream like pockets of calm, cosiness and immerse yourself in stunning design and natures bounty in the Welsh hills.

SETTLE, NORFOLK

A select collection of vintage railway carriages, a boutique cabin, and a summer canvas camp of safari tents tucked away within beautiful parkland.

Using salvaged materials and fittings from their own reclamation yard, owners Jo & John Morfoot have self-built a deluxe cabin alongside sympathetically restoring and converting three train carriages into luxurious stays with considered interiors. Settle’s surrounding parkland is home to some fifty species of trees and includes three lakes, one of which dates from at least the 17th century.

Settle pride themselves on their careful sourcing of materials not only in the construction of their accommodation but also what they offer to their guests. This goes right down to the finer details of providing Pico organic cotton handwoven towels in their rooms whilst also stocking them in their on their onsite farm shop, which offers local organic produce amongst carefully selected homewares from independent makers & brands.

LITTLE MILL, ABERGAVENNY

A rustic 17th century Welsh mill nestled next to the river Gavenny.

We came across The Little Mill on Instagram and like many others have been swooning over the beautifully pared back but cheerful interiors of this family run guesthouse.

Just a stones throw from the market town of Abergavenny, this 3 bedroom converted mill is a beautiful example of a restoration that has been done with a lot of imagination and care. Hidden away in the Welsh countryside this is a perfect place to getaway with your family and friends for wild swims, delicious food and soaking up the beautiful natural world that surrounds this rustic timeless home.
