Natural Dye Collection 2025
Earlier this year, Girish at Mila (where our underwear is made) let us know he couldn’t ship a batch of our ecru underwear—unfortunately, the fabric had accidentally skipped the natural finishing step of being pre-washed with soap nuts.
Rather than let it go to waste, Girish suggested naturally dyeing the pieces instead. This would not only serve as an alternative to the soap nut finish but also give us the opportunity to introduce some beautiful new colours.
Ayurvedic dye plants at Thanga Naturals workshop, January 2020.
To do this, we collaborated with Thanga Naturals, a natural dye studio located near Mila in Tamil Nadu. We first visited them in early 2020 for a hands-on workshop focused on Ayurvedic dyeing techniques—and we’ve since collaborated on several small-batch projects.
This time, we’re excited to offer three unique shades—Nutmeg, Olive, and Heather—each created using a combination of Ayurvedic plants and botanicals such as onion skins, madder root, acacia bark, and myrobalan fruit. To learn more about each shade, you can read our blog post here.
Every piece has been hand-dyed and is naturally one-of-a-kind. Due to the nature of this batch, it’s a slightly eclectic mix of pieces and sizes but we hope you’ll find something that’s just right for you!
